Tue Gram

Ma is a trivet and coaster formed by two simple wooden sticks. Inspired by the Japanese concept of ma, the space between things, the object finds its function in the interval it creates. 

Tue Gram creates the Ma trivets by hand from Douglas wood, assembling a slick design with deeper meaning, for an everyday object, found in most kitchens. Guided by the Japanese concept of ma, the object reduces an everyday kitchen essential to its simplest form, where function emerges through the space between its elements.

Wash and Care: Wood is an organic material and will respond to its surroundings. Heat and moisture from pots and pans will affect colour and surface over time. Burn marks and other traces will tell a story of years of use - and make your Ma unique.

Wooden trivets are not dishwasher safe and should not be left in water. Wash with mild soap if needed and dry immediately.

MATERIAL

Material: Crafted in Douglas a wood characterized by its prominent grain and sturdy character. Douglas wood has a warm yellow-brown colour. Each piece reflects the natural variation of the material. 

Method: Ma trivet is handmade in Tue’s family woodshop on the Island Mols in Denmark.

ARTIST

Tue Gram is an Aarhus-based furniture designer working with wood, guided by clarity, precision, and lasting design. Drawing on Scandinavian and Japanese traditions, his practice gives considered meaning to everyday objects.

Developed in his workshop on Mols, Ma reduces the trivet to its essence: two wooden elements where function exists in the space between.
