Hand-carved wooden spoons by Josephine Vallant, presented under the name Trætøj.

Shaped from locally sourced wood and finished with linseed oil or beeswax, each piece reflects the grain and character of the material.

Each spoon is unique, balancing function and sculptural presence.

Wash and Care: Wood is an organic material and will respond to its surroundings. Heat, light, and moisture may affect colour, shape, and surface over time.

Wooden spoons are not dishwasher safe and should not be left in water. Wash with mild soap and dry immediately.

Untreated spoons may be oiled with a thin layer of food-safe oil if desired. Avoid excessive use of organic oils, as they may become rancid.

This product can be recycled, composted, or burned at end of life.

Material: Birch, ash, and cherry wood form the basis of Josephines work. All timber is collected by hand by Josephine, sourced locally from Skagen and the landscapes of Bornholm.

Method: The wood is shaped by hand, where grain and structure guide the final form.

Each piece carries the natural character of the material, with visible variation in tone and pattern. The surface is finished with clear linseed oil or beeswax, allowing the wood to remain tactile and responsive over time.

Josephine Graff Vallant works from Svaneke on Bornholm, carving wooden spoons by hand. Birch, ash, and cherry wood form the basis of her work, sourced from Skagen and the landscapes of Bornholm. The spoons are finished with clear linseed oil or beeswax.

Guided by grain and structure, each piece is slowly carved, leaving traces of the hand. Her spoons move between sculpture and use, allowing the familiar kitchen tool to exist as both utensil and a small miscellaneous object within everyday life.
