Drinking glasses crafted by Gerner Jahncke. 

Gerner Jahncke is a duo working with both glass and ceramics incorporating local materials.

The glasses are made in recycled glass, mouth blown in wooden molds. The recycled glass in combination with ashes makes each glass slightly different from each other.

MATERIAL

Material: Recycled glass originally used for industrial packaging

Method: Mineral decoration colors are created from melted Bornholm sand and plant ash, collected and processed into glass pigments according to their own recipes. The glasses are blown in wooden molds. The making process creates a softly rounded and gently undulating rim that feels natural to drink from, while adding strength to the structure.

Each glass is handmade and unique, with slight variations in size and decoration.

ARTIST

Gerner Jahncke is a Dutch Danish duo based in Nexø on Bornholm, working across glass and porcelain. Recycled glass and porcelain form the foundation of their practice, enriched with soil, sand, ash, and plant matter gathered from specific landscapes in Bornholm, Iceland, Italy, and Japan.

Through fieldwork and high temperature firing, these materials transform, revealing distinct colours and textures shaped by place. Each piece carries a direct connection to landscape, process, and material, simple in form yet layered in origin.
