Line Depping
Working from Saltuna on the Danish island of Bornholm, Line Depping’s practice spans art and functional design, guided by observations of everyday life, use, and human behavior. Each object begins with a reason to exist, balancing function with space for the irregular and unexpected.
“I thrive in finding interesting, insisting forms that invite the viewer to explore the product further. To me, the aesthetic, perceptive and irrational are just as valuable as the rational.”
Working primarily with solid and steam bent wood, Line explores the structural and tactile qualities of the material. Simple, well-proportioned forms invite both use and closer observation, allowing function, material, construction and expression to remain closely connected.
Her practice ranges from exploratory exhibition pieces to functional objects and production ready designs. Often working alongside Jakob Jørgensen, she also explores ideas of assembly and disassembly, considering how objects can respond to functional, environmental, and practical demands while retaining a distinct presence of their own.
