Salt cellar in stoneware by Emilie Fruergaard.

The shallow, rounded form has a deep mocha brown glaze with a mottled, tactile surface bearing the subtle grain and texture of leather. Subtle variations in tone and texture reflect the handmade process.

PRODUCT DETAILS

Wash and care: Allow the piece to cool completely before cleaning. Wash gently by hand in warm water with a mild, fragrance-free soap. Avoid abrasive materials and harsh detergents. Rinse carefully and dry with a soft linen cloth or allow to air-dry. 
MATERIAL

Material: Handcrafted in stoneware. The clay is combined with locally sourced stone, sand and ash, allowing the character of the raw materials to remain present in the finished surface. 

Method: Emilie works with electric, gas and wood firing, allowing heat, flame and ash to influence the colour, texture and surface of each piece. 
ARTIST

Emilie Fruergaard’s ceramic practice is rooted in the tactile nature of clay and its transformation through fire. Working with local clay, stone, sand, and ash, she allows firing and raw materials to shape the colour, texture, and character of each object. With a background in ethnology, her work connects traditional techniques with objects made to be held, used, and experienced through touch.
