Clay forms the basis of Ann-Charlotte Ohlsson’s practice, where hand-built stoneware objects emerge through repetition, slow processes, and wood firing. Nature remains an underlying influence, with forms and surfaces suggesting traces of seed capsules, flowers, or marine elements without directly imitating them. 

Working with slab and coiling techniques, she develops structure through spikes, ridges, fur-like textures, and layered surfaces. Form and tactility remain central, allowing each object to balance between the recognisable and the abstract. 

All works are fired in a wood fired kiln with salt glazing, where surface and colour develop gradually through heat, ash, and flame. 

Originally from Sweden, she graduated from the Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm in 2000 and has lived and worked on the island since 2004. Today, she is part of the workshop and gallery collective Cassius Clay north of Rønne.
